Mrs. Nora Webber 1869-1955
Mrs. Nora Webber, 85, of 1341 Hickory Street, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday in the Berrien County Hospital at Berrien Center where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. She had been ill for five weeks. [Born] in 1869, in St. Joseph County, Ind., and at the age of six months moved with her parents to Clyde, Kas. When she was 16 years old the family moved to the Niles area where she has lived for about 70 years. She was married March 26, 1890, at the home of her parents south of Niles to Joseph Webber, who survives. Also surviving are: a son, Arthur C. Webber, of Niles; a daughter: Mrs. Marie Long, of South Bend, and four grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Kiger Funeral Home here with the Rev. L. George Beacock, pastor of the First Methodist Church where Mrs. Webber was a member, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends amy[sic] call at the funeral home.

November 19, 1932 Funeral services for William Webber, 72, a former resident of Niles who died early Saturday morning in the home of his son, Clarence Webber, in Kalamazoo, after a lingering illness will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 in the Price & Kiger chapel. The Rev. Harry L. Nicholson, rector of the Trinity Episcopal church, will officiate. Burial will be made in Silverbrook cemetery. Mr. Webber had spent much of his time in Kalamazoo for the past eight years. Surviving are three sons, Clyde of Niles, and Clarence and William, of Kalamazoo, two brothers, Emmett and John Webber, of Niles, one sister, Mrs. Clara Marrs of Buchanan. 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The statement on Saturday that Mr. Webber died in the home of his daughter was erroneous. Mr. Webber’s daughter having preceded him in death. July 2, 1966 Lyle A. Weber, 63, of 2932 S. 3rd St., died at 5:05 p.m. Saturday in Pawating Hostpial after a sudden illness. His widow Helen survives as do their four children: Mrs. Thayne Oppelt, Mishawaka; Mrs. Lois Stethem, Niles; Arthur, Mishawaka; and Rodrick, Niles. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His sisters: Mrs. Olive Trent and Mrs. Irma Heth, both of South Bend: and Mrs. Grace Robinson, Grand Rapids, also survive. Mr. Webber was born in Niles Aug. 18, 1902, and lived in this area most of his life. He married the former Helen Moore in Niles Oct. 1, 1921. Mr. Webber was a retired tool supplier. Funeral services were to be held at 4 p.m. today in the Pifer Funeral Home. The Rev. Earl J. Wickstrom, minister of the First Baptist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Lillian Ellen Welch, 92, of Niles, formerly of Christmas, Florida, passed away peacefully at West Woods of Niles on Sunday, March 8, 2009 following a brief illness. She was born on April 2, 1916 in Berrien Springs, Michigan to the late William Henry and Bertha (Gorham) Fulkerth. In 1935 Lillian married the late Jesse Welch at a ceremony in Niles. A homemaker most of her life, Lillian enjoyed gardening and had a love for animals. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six sisters, two brothers and a son Jesse Welch Jr. Lillian is survived by tow sons Nathan (Patricia) Welch of Niles and Omer Welch of Niles, a daughter Tillie Drummond of Niles, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and a brother Lynes Fulkerth of Niles. In keeping with Lillian’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside committal will be held at Silverbrook Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Lillian’s memory to Humane Society 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545. Ruth West July 16, 1912-January 24, 1949
Ruth West, 38
Mrs. Ruth West, 117 Parkway, passed away this morning at 4:10 a.m. in her home after an illness of two years. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Ida Matthews, of Niles, and her husband, Jess. Also surviving are a son, William, at home, and the following brothers and sisters: Earl, Buford, Homer, John, Lawrence, Kenneth and Glen Matthews, Mrs. Thomas Prater, Mrs. George Crumb, all of Niles, and Fred of Union City. Mrs. West was born in Manchester, Tenn., July 16, 1912, and came here from Manchester 20 years ago. Friends may call at the Pifer funeral home where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. L. George Beacock, pastor of the First Methodist church. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.
