            Henry E. Jones, 85, of 704 Cass St., Niles, died Thursday evening at his home following a brief illness.

            He was a retired employee of Joe Hayden, Inc.

            He was born May 29, 1894, in Niles and had spent his entire life in this area.

            Survivors include one son, Henry L. Jones of Niles; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Halbritter Funeral Home.

            The Rev. W.L. Daniel, pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

            Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

NILES—Edward W. Vetter, 78, of 817 Regent St., died at 10:02 p.m. Tuesday in Pawating Hospital after an illness of several weeks.

            A retired employe of the Wayne Lumber Co, Mr. Vetter was born June 19, 1895, in South Bend, and had lived here all his life.  ON March 30, 1921, in Niles, he married the former Ethel M. Britt, who died in 1966.

            Mr. Vetter was a member of Post 26 of the American Legion and was a World War I Army Veteran.

            Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jose Correa of Niles; a brother, Fred of Indian Rock Beach, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Maybelle Moody of Niles, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Halbritter Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Wyngarden of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

            Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

            Mrs. Ethel Niles Vetter, 71, of 817 Regent St., died at 10:40 p.m., Friday in the Dor-A-Lin Nursing Home, where she had been a patient 10 hours.  She had been ill five months.

            Mrs. Vetter was born June 1, 1894 in Attica, Ind.  She came to Niles from that city in 1918.  She was married to Edward W. Vetter here March 20, 1921.  He survives.

            Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jose Correa, Niles; a brother, Harry Britt, Mishawaka; and five grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Monday in the Halbritter-Swem Funeral Home.  The Rev. John P. MacLachlan, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

            Friends will be received at the Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.

Elizabeth Vetter, 75, Dies Today in Home Near Niles

            Ill for the last three months, Mrs. Elizabeth Vetter, widow of Charles Vetter, died at 2:15 o’clock this morning in her home, 33 River street.  She was 75 years old.

            A native of Pennsylvania Mrs. Vetter was the daughter of Ruben and Sara Zerbe.  She had lived in Berrien county most of her life, and moved the Niles in 1937 from her farm home on the Berrien Center road.<

            Surviving are two sons, Frank and Clarence, Niles; a sister, Mrs. Emery Nash, Elkhart; also two grandchildren.  Mr. Vetter died March 2, 1934.

            Friends may call at the Price and Kiger funeral home where services will be held at 2o’clock Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Harry L. Nicholson officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

            SOUTH BEND—Frank W. Vetter, 54, of 219 Tomti Avenue, South Bend, died Saturday in the St. Joseph Hospital here.

            Vetter was born Jan 26, 1902, in Niles and is survived by his widow, Nora Vetter, one step daughter, Mrs. George Williams and two nephews, Gale Vetter of Boulder, Colo., and Donald Vetter of Miamai, Fla.

            Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Orvis Funeral Home in South Bend with the Rev. Ralph M. Jones of the River Park Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

FRED C. VETTER, 78, APOPLEXY VICTIM
Veteran Berrien Co. Farmer Found Dead in Orchard;
Rites Thursday

            Stricken with apoplexy while trimming trees in his orchard, Fred C. Vetter, veteran Niles farmer, was found dead shortly after noon Monday.  He was 78 years old.

            His lifeless body was found in the orchard by Claude Granning, an employe, who went to look for Mr. Vetter when the latter failed to return home for dinner.

            A lifelong resident of Berrien county, Mr. Vetter had been actively engaged in farming for the last 65 years.  For the last 20 yeas he had been working his fram three miles southwest of Niles.

            Besides his widow, Catherin, he leaves one son, Dr. George Vetter, Niles; a daughter, Mrs. Iva Weaver, Niles; two brothers, William and Frank Vetter, Niles, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Schanbacher, Niles; also six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

            Another son, Albert C. Vetter, died in 1925.

            Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon in the Price and Kiger funeral home with the Rev. Guy W. Simon of the First Presbyterian church officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home, but are requested to omit flowers.

WILLIAM VETTER, DEAD
Remains of Buchanan man will be buried in Niles

            Mr. and Mrs. John Rhoades were called to Buchanan yesterday on account of the death of Mrs. Rhoades’ brother, William G. Vetter.

            The remains will be brought to Niles tomorrow afternoon and will be taken directly to Silver Brook cemetery for interment.  Rev. Watson of Buchanan will accompany the funeral party and conduct the committal services.

            Mr. Vetter is survived by one daughter and one son of Buchanan; a sister, Mrs. Rhoades of Niles and a brother, Charles Vetter who resides north of Niles.

            The deceased carried an insurance in an old line company.
