FRED MARSHALL DIED THIS MORNING AT HIS HOME IN STURGIS, MICH.

Fred Marshall, a former resident of Niles and in business here, died quite suddenly this morning at his home in Sturgis. While Mr. Marshall had been in Ill health for several months, his condition was not considered serious until yesterday. This morning Niles relatives were advised that he was very ill and as they were in the midst of preparations to go to Sturgis, a message came announcing his death. His three sisters in Niles, Mrs. Scott Renz, Mrs. Edward H. Paulis and Mrs. Addison Whiteman, also two nieces, Mrs. Mertus Myiars and Mrs. Harvey Coleman, left at once for Sturgis. They plan to return to Niles this evening. They expected that the body will be brought to Niles and burial will be made here.

Mr. Marshall came to Niles from Sturgis and engaged in the billiard and pool room business and also in the restaurant business. He was particularly interested in Baseball and about 15 years ago was the manger of a local team which was part of a Michigan and Indiana league. About five years ago the family moved to Sturgis where Mr. Marshall resumed work in a cutlery polishing factory.

The deceased is survived by a widow, two sons, Fred Jr., who will be graduated in June from University of Michigan, and Donald of Sturgis, and by one brother and four sisters, who are John Marshall and Mrs. Emma Rummel of Sturgis, Mrs. Scott Renz, Mrs. Edward H. Paulis and Mrs. Addison Whiteman of Niles.

Niles News in Brief: FUNERAL FRED MARSHALL SUN.

Funeral services for Fred Marshall who died in Sturgis Wednesday morning will be held on Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock, daylight savings in the Moon funeral rooms. The body will be brought to Niles for burial in the Marrs family lot in Silver Brook cemetery. The casket will be opened at the grave to permit Niles friends to view the body. The funeral party expect to reach Niles between 3:30 and 4 o'clock. Mr. Marshall who was 54 years of age was born in Meriden, Conn., on April 3 1876. He located to Sturgis when a young man and became one of the charter employes of the Beeidge Shear company. On August 10, 1898, he was married to Lois Marrs of Niles in Niles and soon after they came to Niles to reside. Five years ago the family moved again to Sturgis. Mr. Marshall was a member of the Woodmen of the World order.

Niles News in Brief: FUNERAL FRED MARSHALL

Funeral services for Fred Marshall, formerly of Niles, and a brother of Mrs. Scott Renz, Mrs. E.H. Paulis and Mrs. Addison Whiteman, of Niles, were held on Sunday afternoon in the Moon funeral home in Sturgis. Mr. Marshall and his family moved to Sturgis from Niles five years ago and he died in that city on Wednesday morning. The pastor of the First Presbyterian church conducted the services in Sturgis and accompanied the funeral party to Niles and conducted the committal services at Silver Brook cemetery. A large group of friends, about 30 relatives from out of the city attended the committal services. Mrs. Marshall and her sons remained in Niles at the home of Mrs. Lucy Webber and will be here for a few days.

MRS. LOIS MARSHALL DIES JUST 3 MONTHS AFTER HER HUSBAND

Surviving her husband, rFed[sic] Marshall, by just three months, Mrs. Lois Marshall, 52, died last evening at 8 o'clock at her home 204 S. St. Joseph avenue. After Mr. Marshall's death in Sturgis on June 4 and the burial services in Niles. Mrs. Marshal remained in Niles on account of her own ill health and a few weeks later secured a home here. Her death followed seven moths of severe illness and suffering.

The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon at the Troost & Augustine chapel. The Rev. John Willis of Sturgis, who conducted the funeral services for Mr. Marshall and who is pastor of the Presbyterian church in Sturgis will officiate. Burial will be made in the Marrs family lot in Silver Brook cemetery.

Mrs. Marshall was born in Niles on August 19, 1878, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Marrs. She grew to young womanhood here and was married in Niles to Mr. Marshall. They then went to Freemont, Ohio, and later returned to Niles. Mr. Marshall conducted a pool, billiard and restaurant business in Niles for about 15 years and five years ago the family moved to his former home in Sturgis. Mrs. Marshall is survived by two sons, Fred, who last June completed four yours of his course in business administration at University of Michigan and who is now in Niles and Donald Marshall, also at home. Besides the two sons . . . [illegible] . y one sister, Mrs. Paul Krietner of Petoskey.

Friends may call at the home to view the body until near the hour for the funeral services. Mrs. Marshall was a member of the Woodmen Circle, an auxiliary to the Woodmen of the World order.

A change has been made in the time for the funeral services for Mrs. Fred Marshall. The service will be held at 2:30 in the Troost and Augustine chapel. The Rev. Niles in Brief: DEATH MRS. DAUGHERTY

Mrs. Clara Daugherty, wife of Bert Daugherty, residing on R.R. 2, Niles, died this morning at 5:15 at Pawating hospital. Mrs. Daugherty had an operation two weeks ago. The deceased was 51 years of age. Besides her husband she is survived by four sisters,and two brothers. The funeral services will be held from the Rutherford funeral home on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Slee of the Methodist church will conduct the funeral services. Burial will be made in Silver Brook cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home until the hour of the service. Two of the sisters of the deceased reside in Dowagiac. They are Mrs. Guy Berling and Mrs. Edward Slosson.

News in Brief: FUNERAL MRS. DAUGHERTY

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W.W. Slee this afternoon for Mrs. B. Daugherty, R.R. 2, Niles, who died early Thursday morning following an operation. Mrs. Daugherty was formerly Miss Clara Behnke of Dowagiac. She leaves her husband, four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. E.P. Slosson, Mrs. Guy Burling and Mrs. Jacob Born of this city; Mrs. Coral Fitzsimmons and Arthur Behnke of Battle Creek and Charles Behnke of Detroit.

MRS. HANNAH RICKETTS—Mrs. Hannah Ricketts, 90, died yesterday in her home, 223 Antilla avenue, Coral Gables, following an illness of several months. Mrs. Ricketts came to Coral Gables from South Bend, Ind., five years ago. She leaves three sons, J.W. and Richard Ricketts of Coral Gables and Thomas Ricketts of South Bend; seven daughters, Mrs. James Whittington, Coral Gables; Mrs. R.H. Bagnall, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. J. Slack, Knoxville, Tenn.; Mrs. D.L. Guler, South Bend; Mrs. E.S. Norris, Clarksdale, Ill.; Mrs. D. Milna, Hanna, Ind., and Mrs. Thomas Cain, Miles, Ind. [sic] Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow in the W.L. Philbrick Funeral Home by Rev. Don Henshaw, pastor of the Coral Gables Presbyterian Church. The body will be placed in a receiving vault and later will be taken to South Bend for burial.

Niles News in Brief: ATTEND DOUBLE FUNERAL

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Silsbee, Mrs. Geo. E. Flower, and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Cain were among those from Niles who attended the funeral services in South Bend this afternoon for Mrs. Hannah Ricketts and Mrs. Daniel Guler, mother and sister of Mrs. Thomas E. Cain, of Niles.

Charlotte Emily Robbins, 47, 523 North Fourteenth street, died at 8:05 last night in her home. She was in poor health for the past year.

Surviving are her husband, Captain James Robbins, of the Niles fire department, and their two daughters, Mrs. John Rodebush and Mrs. William Ortman, of Niles.

Also surviving are one grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Peter Mack and Mrs. Clarence Killarney, of Niles, and seven brothers, Oscar and Cleveland Horner, of Chicago, Floyd, Harle, John and Robert Horner, of Niles, and Ezra Horner, of LaPorte, Ind.

Mrs. Robbins was born in Galien May 16, 1902, and came her 47 years ago from Galien. She was a member of the First Methodist church here.

Friends may call at the Pifer funeral home, and services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday at the First Methodist church by the pastor, the Rev. L. George Beacock. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Niles News in Brief: DEATH BABY GIRL

The committal service for the girl born this morning to Mr. and Mrs. James Robbins, 1296 S. Eleventh street, will be held tomorrow. Mr. Robbins is a member of the Niles city fire department. Besides the parents, the baby is survived by two sisters.

News in Brief: FUNERAL CHAS. ROCKWELL, Jr.

Funeral services for Charles Rockwell, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rockwell, Sr., who reside on Thirteenth street, just south of the Niles city limit, will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Troost and Augustine chapel. Elder O.E. Sanders will officiate. Burial will be made in Silver Brook cemetery.

The boy died on Friday morning after a week of illness with summer influenza. He was five years old last August and had entered the kindergarten grade at Brandywine school in the fall. He is survived by his parents and by three sisters and two brothers, who are Helen, Beulah, Bessie, Woodrow and Walter. E.S. Sherrick and Ezra are the boy's grandfathers. His grandfather [sic], Mrs. E.S. Sherrick died last Sunday at the home of her son, Clyde Deever.
