John C. Marshall, 69, of No. 7 South Third street, died at Pawating Hospital at 3:30 pm. Friday following a two-year illness.

Marshall was born in Silver Lake, Ind., on Nov. 4, 1884, and came here from Benton Harbor in 1929. He was a former bridge construction engineer and a retired foreman of the Niles Board of Public Works.

Marshall was a life member of Valley City Masonic Lodge No. 86 of Grand  Rapids. His wife Daisy died on Oct. 1, 1953.

Surviving are a son, Wesley, and a daughter, Mrs. Eugene Gallagher, both of Niles; a brother, Mearl, of Grand Rapids, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Kiger Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. L. George Beacock officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, with Masonic rites conducted at the grave.
