Foster Lee Reid, 82, 2694 Redfield Road, Niles, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday at Cass County Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He retired in 1969 from the Kawneer Co., Inc., after 40 years as a certified welder.
Born April 25, 1904 in Mendon, he lived in this area since 1928, coming from Mendon.
His first wife, Mittie Reid, died in 1940. On Nov. 25, 1968 in Niles, he married Florence Carpenter, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Russell Reid of Niles and Oscar Reid of Shelby; two daughters, Vivian Christenson of Grass Valley, Calif., and Helen Fisher of California; six stepsons and three stepdaughters; a brother, Harold Reid of Niles; a sister, Edith Schnick of Niles; 26 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. A daughter Louise Gonzales, died in 1972.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pifer-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery.
