Loran H. Cody, 53, Dies in California; Burial Rites Here

 

Loran H. Cody, 53, son of Mrs. Florence Cody of Niles, died Saturday morning in his home in Lakewood Village, Calif., after an illness of heart trouble.

Mr. Cody was head of the narcotics squad of the federal government and as such was transferred from his former home in Detroit in 1934 to California. He was born Jan. 17, 1888.

Surviving with his mother are his wife, Mrs. Mable Cody; two sons, Harold and Duane, both of Lakewood Village; four sisters, Mrs. Roy Weist and Miss Ruth Cody, Niles, Mrs. William Brewer, Forget, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Mrs. George Johnson, Seville, Fla., and three brothers, Earl and Roy Cody, Niles, and Russell Cody, Three Oaks.

The body will arrive from Lakewood Village Tuesday night at the Rutherford funeral home for burial here.

SET CODY FUNERAL


Funeral services for Loran H. Cody, 53, who died Jan. 3 in his home in Lakewood Village, Calif., will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in the Rutherford funeral home. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery. The body and relatives from California were expected in Niles this afternoon at 3:43. Members of both the American Legion auxiliary and the V.F. W. auxiliary will meet at the funeral home at 2:15 to attend the service. Mr. Cody's mother, Mrs. Florence Cody, is a Niles Gold Star mother.

CODY RITES TODAY


The Rev. A.C. DeVries, pastor of the First Evangelical church, officiated at funeral services this afternoon in the Rutherford funeral home for Loran H. Cody, who died last Saturday in Lakewood Village, Calif. Burial was in Silverbrook cemetery.
