Norman F. Ray, 72, formerly of 1332 Eagle St., died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Terry Kings Nursing Home, South Bend, after an illness of several months.

Mr. Ray was born Sept. 1, 1889 in Tippecanoe, Ind., and moved to Niles from Michigan City, Ind. in 1919. He was a retired car inspector for the New York Central Railroad and had worked for the railroad 42 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Carman's Union. His wife Clara, died Oct. 23, 1954.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Peter Ciula, South Bend; a son, Edwin Ray, Kokomo, Ind.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Kiger-Halbritter Funeral home with the Rev. Gordon Everett, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
