JOSEPH CONTOIS DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Retired a Year Ago Because of Ill Health; Funeral Set for Saturday

Joseph A. Contois, 65, died at 4:20 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at his home, 1320 Oak street, after an illness of a year and a half.

He came to Niles from Chicago 15 years ago as a painting and decorating contractor from which he retired about a year ago because of ill health. Since then the business has been run by his wife and son, George T., the latter being associated with him for the past seven years, who will continue to head it. Sales rooms at the home will be closed until Monday.

The deceased was born at St. Anne, Ill., on April 9, 1869. He was a member of Calanthe lodge No., 40, Knights of Pythias and also of Niles lodge 1322, B.P.O.E.

Besides the widow and son, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Aurelia Contois, Momence, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Alva Chayer, Kankakee, Ill., Mrs. D.C. Potter and Mrs. Eva J. Russell, both of Chicago; and four brothers, E.J. Contois, Battle Creek, and Charles, Henry and Hector Contois, all of Momence.

Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Mary's catholic church with  Rev. Fr. V.F. Ducat officiating.  Committal services at the grave will be in charge of the Elks lodge. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Friends may call at the Rutherford funeral home until time for the services.

Hold Contois Funeral on Saturday Morning

Funeral services for Joseph A. Contois, 65, 1320 Oak street, retired Niles painting contractor and decorator, who died Wednesday, will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church, with the Rev. Fr. V.F. Ducat officiating. Friends will meet at the Rutherford funeral home at 8:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Mr. Contois has been ill for more than a year. Members of the Knights of Pythias, of which he was a member will meet at their hall at 7:30 o'clock tonight to make arrangements for attending the funeral in a body.

CONTOIS RITES HELD

Funeral services for Joseph A. Contois, retired Niles painting and decorating contractor who died Wednesday, were held at 9 o'clock this morning at St. Mary's Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. V.F. Ducat officiating.  Burial was in Silverbrook cemetery.
